I know I'm behind the trends a lot. For instance, why download some program to switch my wmas to mp3s when there's itunes? Well... 'cuz I'm slow and I hate the general trends.
But this.. this I love : pandora
As they say it:
Ever since we started the Music Genome Project, our friends would ask:
Can you help me discover more music that I'll like?
Those questions often evolved into great conversations. Each friend told us their favorite artists and songs, explored the music we suggested, gave us feedback, and we in turn made new suggestions. Everybody started joking that we were now their personal DJs.
We created Pandora so that we can have that same kind of conversation with you.
.............
I am digging on my conversation with Pandora.

You totally are just catching up, but agreed... Pandora rocks my socks off.
I recommend "Prince" radio.
shuddupshuddupshuddup I can TOO keep up with all the Joneses from SF to NYC to Tokyo!! ..... if only I had 24 more hours in each day I'd get to read my current issue of Wired before the month was out, scour all the breaking-news websites, and post all about what I learned. Alas, such is not the case. Which is, ahem, why I rely on my friends to keep me in the know. So, really, it's not my bad - it's yours. YOU failed me.
Prince... yeah, and like all 5000 other artists I have accrued over my short life.
Color me another Pandora true believer for the past year-ish (so I guess that documents my Lola-informing failure too). I've found great new music this way, though the playlists tend to get a little more repetitive in more obscure genres.
In order to make-up, I offer my recommendation for the best on-line music service: emusic.com rocks. DRM free MP3 files...burn 'em, copy 'em, give 'em away (if your'e a dork) as many times as you want, they're yours forever. And if your hard drive crashes or you HAVE to hear a certain song at work that you downloaded at home, you can re-download any track you've bought as many times as you want. Almost all the great indie labels are represented, but if you're looking for stuff from the majors keep moving. If you sign up, tell 'em firewhale at hotmaildotcom sent ya.
I'm into emusic though it kinda bothers me when all of a sudden I crave something like The Stone Roses and can't get it there b/c they only deal in bands on indie labels. But I've dl'd so many great international tracks there. So, um, don't tell 'em firewhale sent ya, tell 'em Lola did. ; ) kidding.
PS. Didn't see much of anyone at the TVOTR show last night cuz the place was fucking sold out!!! But I was up front on the floor being mashed between bodies and the first row of seating. I got my rock on so hard!! Love them! Did you like, hellboy?
Didn’t see you, but holy fucking shit, what a show! The opener, Subtle, completely stunned me. I just wasn't ready for how good they were. TVOTR’s anthemic sing-a-longs on the albums made so much more sense live, with the whole audience crying along with band…definitely the most original show I’ve seen in a long, long time. Hope you had a wonderful time at the show, and an equally degrading time once you got home.
you should check out last.fm if you haven't already -- i'm digging it.
(btw -- YAY!!! -- finally, the latest Foxfire upgrade to 2.0.0.3 allows me to log into blogger AND post annoying msgs to you!)
